The Playhouse at White Lake will host two week-long workshops with the Missoula Children's Theatre in April and June, the first coming over Muskegon County spring break week.
The April workshop, set for April 7-12, will be capped with a one-hour production of Hercules. The story features the Olympic Games, which need the legendary strongman to spark the flame to open the Games. Audiences find out if Hercules is able to start the Games on time or not.
The workshop will allow students to learn acting skills, songs, dances and, of course, their lines. The play teaches students that true strength can lie not in muscles but in character.
A June camp, from June 23-27, will revolve similarly around a production of Snow White.
The day camp costs $150 and runs five days from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. each day. Partial scholarships for work-trade are available. Up to 60 spots are available per production, and everyone who participates in the Hercules camp is guaranteed a role in the 12 p.m. Saturday production April 12. Tickets are on sale for that production with Pay What You Can admission.
Registration is open for the Hercules session and will open April 9 for the Snow White summer session.
The play camps are offered annually through the Missoula Childre's Theatre partnership. For more information on the youth theatre program, visit theplayhouseatwhitelake.org or follow he Playhouse on social media.
