In a close three-team race at the top of the West Michigan
Conference Lakes' opening jamboree at Oakridge Wednesday, the Vikings
finished third with a team score of 188.
Whitehall finished
only seven shots behind first-place Ludington and four behind runner-up
Fremont. Montague posted a 206 and finished fifth, two strokes behind
Manistee.
Royce Freed led all local players, shooting a 44 for
Whitehall to finish tied for fourth overall. Brady Tate had a 45 and
took sixth. Braedon Bond had a 49 and Jones McDowell a 50 to round out a
balanced scoring effort for the Vikes.
Bucky Aney was
Montague's top scorer, shooting a 50. Tanner Devries had a 51, Brayden
Bultema shot a 52 and Maxwell Welch shot a 53 to close the scoring.
